The journey starts at Abra Málaga (4,350 m.a.s.l.) with a mountain bike descent to Santa María (1,430 m.a.s.l.). We then continue with a hike through jungle trails to Santa Teresa and Hidroeléctrica, surrounded by lush vegetation and local plantations. Finally, we arrive at Aguas Calientes, where we rest before the great day at Machu Picchu, enjoying its impressive sunrise.

Tour starts at 8:00 AM by tourist bus to Abra Málaga (4,350 m.a.s.l.) with magnificent views of La Verónica glacier.

Alfamayuc – Bike descent (45 km)

10:30 AM approx.

At Abra Málaga we head to Alfamayuc, where our guide provides route details. We begin the 45 km bike descent to Santa María (1,430 m.a.s.l.) — a unique experience.

Santa María – Lunch and lodge

02:00 PM approx.

After arriving in Santa María we have lunch and dinner at a local family lodge.

Hike Santa María → Vilcabamba → Quellomayo (22 km)

After breakfast

Our Inca Jungle trek continues with a full-day 22 km hike from Santa María along paths that are still part of the Inca trail, passing through the Vilcabamba archaeological center known as the last refuge of the Incas.

Tropical plantation trails

Morning

We cross streams, fruit plantations including bananas, oranges, avocados, mangoes and coffee native to the area. We also see the great diversity of flora with orchids and abundant birds and jungle fauna.

Cocalmayo Hot Springs

Afternoon

After a long 7-hour hiking day, we rest at the Santa Teresa (Qocalmayo) hot springs, known for their crystalline waters — the perfect place to relax the body after a long day.

Santa Teresa – Dinner and hotel

Evening

Relaxed, we continue the last stretch of the hike for about 1 hour to Teresa, where we stay overnight and have dinner at a local restaurant.

Hike Santa Teresa → Hidroeléctrica

After breakfast

The day starts with a hike from Santa Teresa to Hidroeléctrica, approximately 3 hours through plantations and crops. Our guide shares details and stories of the route.

Hidroeléctrica – Lunch

Midday

At Hidroeléctrica we have lunch to recharge our energy.

Hike Hidroeléctrica → Aguas Calientes

After lunch

We continue hiking to Aguas Calientes along trails and railroad tracks.

Aguas Calientes – Hotel and dinner

Evening

In Aguas Calientes we rest at a hotel and have dinner at a local tourist restaurant.

Sunrise at Machu Picchu

The great day has arrived — the beautiful sunrise at Machu Picchu after a magnificent trekking experience.

Those who reserved Huayna Picchu can do the 45-minute staircase climb to the summit with a natural puma-shaped offering altar.

A 2-hour guided tour covering the Inca citadel: Intihuatana observatory, Temple of the Three Windows, Temple of the Sun and residential sectors.
