The Cusco City Tour can be done in the morning (08:00 AM) or afternoon (12:00 PM). Pickup from your hotel.
Main Square of Cusco (Huacaypata)
Tour start
Our first visit is the Main Square of Cusco or Huacaypata (place of weeping), where your guide will share the historical significance of this place.
Cusco Cathedral
09:00 AM approx.
A tour of Cusco Cathedral, built on the foundations of Inca Viracocha's palace. It features three naves in baroque-renaissance style with paintings from the Cusqueñan school of the 16th and 17th centuries.
Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun)
10:00 AM approx.
We continue to Qorikancha or "Temple of the Sun", built by Inca Pachacútec with green, red and gray andesite stone. In Inca times it was an important religious center for worshipping the sun, moon, rainbow and stars, covered in gold and silver.
Sacsayhuamán
11:00 AM approx.
We take the bus to Sacsayhuamán, the great Inca fortress with zigzag megalithic walls weighing approximately 125 tons. Site of the annual Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun) every June 24th.
Q'enqo
12:00 PM approx.
Q'enqo, meaning labyrinth or zigzag, features a labyrinthine underground entrance. A ceremonial center of worship with an amphitheater and 19 niches for deity ceremonies.
Puka Pukara (Red Fortress)
12:30 PM approx.
Puka Pukara or "Red Fortress" — a strategic military center and checkpoint on the road to the Antisuyo (Jungle) where tributes were received.
Tambomachay (Bath of the Inca)
01:00 PM approx.
Finally, Tambomachay — an important center of water worship for purification rites, with walls, windows and water channels from springs through an amazing Inca hydraulic system.
