ITINERARY

DAY 01: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAKE

  • Pick up from your hotel starting at 04:00 hrs. 
  • We will leave in a tourist bus to Mollepata (2900 m.a.s.l.), place where we will have the first breakfast of the day.
  • Once ready we will have a 7 hours hike (17km.) to Soraypampa during this hike we will be able to see the peaks of the Salkantay and Humantay snow-capped mountains, once we arrive to Soraypampa it will be our first resting point and overnight.

 

DAY 2: SORAYMAPA – SALKANTAY – CHAULLAY

  • We will leave very early in the morning for a total hike of 22 km from our first campsite towards the highest point which is the Salkantay pass (4638 m.a.s.l.), a place where we will be able to see the snow-capped mountains in all their splendor.
  • Then we will start a descent from the Salkantay pass towards Chaullay through rocky and tropical forests crossing rivers, an impressive experience and change of microclimates, once we arrive to Chaullay will be our second point of rest and overnight.

 

DAY 3: CHALLHUAY – SANTA TERESA

  • We will leave after breakfast to continue our 14 KM trek to Santa Teresa, where we will pass through trails with abundant flora, arriving to Sawayaco (1645 m.a.s.l.).
  • Then we will have a walk to Santa Teresa, where we will rest and spend the night.

 

DAY 4: SANTA TERESA – LLACTAPATA – HYDROELECTRIC – AGUAS CALIENTES

  • Ready to start our 16 km trek from Santa Teresa towards part of the Inca Trail called Llactapata from where we can have views of Machupicchu and Waynapicchu.
  • Then we will have a hike to Aguas Calientes passing first by the hydroelectric plant in a journey through part of the rainforest.
  • Finally this day we will leave Hidroeléctrica for a 3 hours hike to Aguas Calientes where we will rest and spend the night.

 

DAY 5 MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO

  • The most awaited day after a wonderful day is the beautiful sunrise in Machupicchu, for this we will have to get up at 04:00 a.m. to have this privilege.
  • People who booked the entrance to the mountain of Waynapicchu will be able to make the 2-hours staggered walk to the top, a unique and unforgettable experience.

ITINERARY

DAY 01: CUSCO – SORAYPAMPA – HUMANTAY LAKE

  • To start the Salkantay tour, we will pick you up from your hotel starting at 04:30 hrs. 
  • We will leave in a tourist bus to Mollepata (2900 meters above sea level), in a two-hour trip and in this place where we will have the first breakfast of the day and will be given the respective indications and recommendations by the guide to start this tour.
  • Already ready we will start this tour of Salkantay with a walk of 7 hours in a journey of 17 kilometers in an ascent to Soraypampa where our camp is located, during this hike you can see the peaks of the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay, During the night you will be able to see shooting stars in the sky as well as part of the constellation of stars in an experience that you will never forget and the dawn of another view of the snowy Salkantay.

 

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY – CHAULLAY

  • This day we will leave very early from our first camping point which is Soraypampa, before leaving we will have breakfast before our walk that will have a total of 22 kilometers, this is the highest point of our tour which is the Salkantay pass (4638 m.a.s.l.), a place where you can see in all its splendor the snowy mountains that surround the snowy Salkantay.
  • Then we will start a descent from the Salkantay pass to Chaullay (2900 m.a.s.l.) through rocky and tropical forests crossing rivers, an impressive experience and you will be able to notice the change of microclimates every time we go down, once we arrive to Chaullay it will be our second resting point and overnight.

 

DAY 3: CHALLHUAY – SANTA TERESA

  • Very early after breakfast we will leave to continue our journey of 14 kilometers towards Santa Teresa passing through the valley that this has observing cocoa plantations, bananas, avocados and observing a variety of orchids and abundant flora and arriving at Sawayaco (1645 meters above sea level).
  • Once in Sawayaco we will hike to Santa Teresa, where we will rest and spend the night after a day of hiking through tropical forest trails.

 

DAY 4: SANTA TERESA – LLACTAPATA – HIDROLECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

  • Very early in the morning after a well deserved rest and after having breakfast, we will start our 16 kilometers trek from Santa Teresa towards part of the Inca Trail called Llactapata its name means village in place, it is a site that was conducive to agricultural activity composed of terraces and buildings with ceremonial enclosures occupying a curved path, from where we can have views of Machupicchu and Waynapicchu.
  • Then we will have a hike to Aguas Calientes passing first by the hydroelectric in a journey through part of the rainforest by trails and paths of the railroad line to reach the town of Aguas Calientes, and once located there we can rest and spend the night in a hotel.

 

DAY 5: MACHUPICCHU

  • The big day has arrived after a magnificent experience of hiking trails and beautiful landscapes through this 5 day Salkantay tour is the sunrise at Machupicchu.
  • We will start the guided tour in the citadel of Machupicchu, but people who have or booked the entrance to the mountain of Waynapicchu may have access with a staggered walk of 45 minutes to the top a unique and unforgettable experience that presents a natural form very similar to a puma, in this place we can find an altar of offerings.
