There are two ways to get through the Inca Trail to Machupicchu, one of them is through the Inca Trail 4 days and the other Inca Trail 2 days.
The 4 days Inca Trail starts from the city of Cusco in a tourist bus to the starting point at kilometer 82 of the railway line that leads from Ollantaytambo to Machupicchu.
Day 1: Cusco – Huayllabamba (13km), hike uphill on Inca trail section, medium difficulty, campsites and high elevation 2840 m.a.s.l.
Day 2: Huayllabamba – Pacaymayo (11km), hike uphill on Inca trail section, difficult grade, campsites and high elevation point 4215 m.a.s.l.
Day 3: Pacaymayo – Wiñay Huayna (16km), downhill trekking on Inca trail sections, medium difficulty grade, campsites and high elevation point 3625 m.a.s.l.
Day 4: Wiñay Huayna – Machu Picchu (3km), descent and ascent on Inca trail section, medium difficulty, easy, high elevation point 2745 m.a.s.l. and return to Cusco by train..
The 2 days Inca Trail starts from the city of Cusco in a tourist bus to Ollantaytambo and then take the train to kilometer 104 of the railway line that leads from Ollantaytambo to Machupicchu where the Inca Trail trek begins.
Day 1: Cusco – km 104 – Aguas Calientes (11km), hike up and down on a section of Inca trail, medium difficulty, lodging and high elevation 3625 masl.
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu (3 km), hike uphill on marked trails, easy difficulty level, high elevation 2430 masl and return to Cusco by train.
